In 2014, Spanish oil company CEPSA was moving into the IPEC building in Abu Dhabi. Having been part of the IPEC family since 1988 it was a natural selection to move into the iconic IPEC building. Twenty1 was tasked with developing the office from shell and core to fully operational office – ready for move in.
This entailed the full design development of the office space with a particular focus on team work for predominately engineering staff that needs dedicated break out areas to work in teams. However, a further challenge is the often scattered location of many team members, with some being off-site on the drilling rig and others in offices in different location around the world. This meant a particular focus on integrating the needed IT facilities into the break out areas and meeting rooms.
The office was build towards European level guidelines for ergonomics as well as the prevailing health and safety requirements set forth by CEPSA.
CEPSA was looking for a minimalistic look however with clear references to the company colors. This was obtained through the use of modern designed Spanish office furniture combined with the doors in the cabinets throughout the office being in the CEPSA distinguished red color.
Over the duration of the 16 weeks of the project the space was fitted with AC, firefighting and electrical installations. Together with the raised flooring, all IT related cables where installed before the dry walls and the glass walls were installed. Lastly the decoration of walls, floors and sealing completed the job.
